President & Chief Executive Officer
Doug Sanders is president and chief executive officer of Sprouts Farmers Market and serves on the Board of Directors. As president and CEO, Doug is the steward of one of the largest natural and organic retailers in the country, and champion of our passion: to inspire, educate and empower every person to eat healthier and live a better life. Doug joined Sprouts upon its founding in 2002 and served in roles of increasing responsibility, including vice president of information technology, chief administrative officer, president and chief operating officer.
Since joining the team in 2002, Doug has led the company through years of impressive expansion. Highlights include the successful acquisition and integration of the Henry's Farmers Market, Sun Harvest Market, and Sunflower Farmers Market chains; increased distribution and supply chain efficiencies; taking the company public in 2013; and building a best-in-class leadership team.
He has been instrumental in developing and promoting Sprouts' unique corporate culture and sustaining the company's legacy of giving and service. Doug was named to the Supermarket News 2014 Power 50 and Retailer Magazine recognized him as Co-CEO of the Year for 2014. Under Doug's leadership, Consumer Reports also recognized Sprouts as one of the Top Ten Best Supermarkets in America in both 2014 and 2015.
Prior to joining Sprouts, Doug held a number of management positions in operations and technology at companies in the grocery industry, including TCI Solutions, Associated Wholesale Grocers and Brookshire Brothers.
Doug attended the Stephen F. Austin State University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center and is the former chairman for the Arizona Walk Now for Autism Speaks.
