Sprouts Management Team


Doug Sanders

President & Chief Executive Officer

Doug Sanders is president and chief executive officer of Sprouts Farmers Market and serves on the Board of Directors. As president and CEO, Doug is the steward of one of the largest natural and organic retailers in the country, and champion of our passion: to inspire, educate and empower every person to eat healthier and live a better life. Doug joined Sprouts upon its founding in 2002 and served in roles of increasing responsibility, including vice president of information technology, chief administrative officer, president and chief operating officer.

Since joining the team in 2002, Doug has led the company through years of impressive expansion. Highlights include the successful acquisition and integration of the Henry's Farmers Market, Sun Harvest Market, and Sunflower Farmers Market chains; increased distribution and supply chain efficiencies; taking the company public in 2013; and building a best-in-class leadership team.

He has been instrumental in developing and promoting Sprouts' unique corporate culture and sustaining the company's legacy of giving and service. Doug was named to the Supermarket News 2014 Power 50 and Retailer Magazine recognized him as Co-CEO of the Year for 2014. Under Doug's leadership, Consumer Reports also recognized Sprouts as one of the Top Ten Best Supermarkets in America in both 2014 and 2015. 

Prior to joining Sprouts, Doug held a number of management positions in operations and technology at companies in the grocery industry, including TCI Solutions, Associated Wholesale Grocers and Brookshire Brothers.

Doug attended the Stephen F. Austin State University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center and is the former chairman for the Arizona Walk Now for Autism Speaks.

Amin Maredia

Chief Financial Officer

Amin Maredia assumed the position of chief financial officer in August 2011. He oversees the company's finance organization, investor relations, treasury, controller functions, taxes and risk management activities. His career experience includes 20+ transactions totaling more than $25 billion.

Prior to joining Sprouts, Amin served in key strategic and finance roles for Burger King Corporation, one of the world's largest fast-food retailers, including vice president of North America and Latin America finance, vice president of strategic planning & treasurer, and assistant controller. Before joining Burger King, Amin served as assistant treasurer and assistant controller for Dynegy, Inc., an energy producer and wholesaler.

By emphasizing strategic investment and financial discipline, he has also deftly managed Global Fortune 100 and private equity backed companies through difficult periods and during the economic downturn.

Amin began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1994. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a graduate of the Harvard Business School General Management Program and holds an undergraduate degree in accounting from University of Houston.

Jim Nielsen

Chief Operating Officer

Jim Nielsen, our chief operating officer, is responsible for all of Sprouts' operations, sales, merchandising, supply chain functions and marketing.

He joined Sprouts through the 2011 merger of Sprouts and Henry's Farmers Market, where he served as president, vice president and general manager. From 2002 to 2006, Jim served in roles of increasing responsibility for Wild Oats Marketplace, including director of operations, director of non-perishables, and director of merchandising.

Jim began his career at Smith's Food and Drug in 1986 and held positions such as Store Director and Senior Merchandising Manager before leaving in 2002.

He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Weber State University.

Shawn Gensch

Chief Marketing Officer

Shawn Gensch, our chief marketing officer, leads Sprouts' marketing strategy, creative and production, designed to inspire and engage consumers and showcase the company's healthy products and great value. He serves as a member of the Sprouts Executive Leadership Team and reports directly to Doug Sanders, president and CEO. Shawn has more than 25 years' experience in marketing and finance with executive roles in both the retail and financial services industries.

Prior to joining Sprouts, Shawn served as co-founder and chief executive officer of a start-up consumer loyalty company. Earlier, Shawn served as Target's senior vice president of marketing, responsible for brand marketing, media, loyalty and public relations. He also served as president of Target Bank and led financial product development for the company. Previously, he was president and chief executive officer of Conseco Bank.

Shawn holds a B.S. in Accounting from Wisconsin-Eau Claire and is on the Board of Directors for GWG Holdings, Inc., Anser Innovation LLC., and Avenues for Homeless Youth.

Brandon Lombardi

Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary

Brandon Lombardi has served as our chief legal officer and corporate secretary since January 2012. Brandon has broad responsibilities for the operation of the company's legal department, the licensing compliance department, and all corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Prior to joining Sprouts, Brandon was a corporate and securities attorney at the international law firm of Greenberg Traurig, LLP from 2002 to 2012. While in private practice, Brandon served as outside general counsel and corporate secretary to public and private companies in a wide range of industries, including food retail, specializing in corporate governance, securities and corporate law, and mergers and acquisitions. He led our April 2011 merger with Henry's Farmers Market while acting as our outside counsel.

Brandon holds a Juris Doctor from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and a B.S. in Global Business from Arizona State University. 

Nancy LaMons

Chief Human Resources Officer

Nancy LaMons is our chief human resources officer. She is responsible for leading the company's human resources and organizational development efforts.

Nancy joined Sprouts from Fiesta Restaurant Group, where she served as chief people officer. Previously, she served as division vice president of human resources for Global Supply Chain and International Operations for JC Penney, where she worked from 2010-2013. Prior to that, Nancy served in a number of senior human resources roles for PepsiCo. Inc. from 1998 to 2010.

Nancy holds an MBA in International Human Resources, Labor and Industrial Relations and an Ed.M. concentrating in Organization and Leadership Development from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign; and a B.S. in Finance from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio.

Daniel J. Bruni

Chief Information Officer

Daniel J. Bruni has served as our chief information officer since February, 2015. Bruni is responsible for spearheading all information technology efforts to support company objectives.

Prior to joining Sprouts, Dan held the position of vice president, information technology for Dollar General Corporation. Dan has also served as senior vice president & chief information officer at Harris Teeter, Corp.; a regional grocery chain, and as vice president & chief information officer at Brothers Gourmet Coffees.

With more than 25 years of information technology experience, Dan has also held leadership positions in manufacturing, financial services and fast food retail in organizations such as General Motors, Dun & Bradstreet and Burger King Corporation. Dan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in IT Executive Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Dan currently sits on the advisory committees for Information Builders, Inc., and 1010Data, both business intelligence and data warehousing organizations.

Ted Frumkin

Chief Development Officer

Ted Frumkin has served as our chief development officer since early 2015. He joined the Sprouts team in December 2012 as our Senior Vice President of Business Development. In this role, he is responsible for new store expansion, real estate acquisition and disposition, construction and strategic relationships and partnerships.

Prior to joining our company, Ted served as vice president of real estate for Staples, Inc. Before that, he was vice president of real estate and construction for Rubio's Restaurants, Inc., a fast food retailer; director of real estate for Office Depot, Inc.; real estate manager for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.; and real estate manager for Taco Bell.

Ted holds an M.B.A. in Finance from Florida International University, and a B.F.A. from Texas Christian University.
